Folder-Snap is an extremely useful tool designed to take snapshots of folders within the Windows file system.

Its appearance is the same as Windows Explorer, and can therefore be browsed and searched in a familiar way.

With Folder-Snap, you can:

  • Take snapshots of archived data CD's and DVD's for offline browsing.
  • Create a master file containing snapshots of all archives - a single search will identify which CD or DVD contains the data, and its exact location within.
  • Send others lists of audio or video files - just right-click on the respective folder in Windows Explorer and select 'Folder-Snap' from the popup menu. The collections can be browsed as though the data were on their systems.
  • Categorize items by existing or user-defined properties (eg. artist, duration, my rating, etc.) - these can be searched and sorted on.
  • Reorganize snapshots to provide more convenient groupings - items can be moved from one location to another by simply dragging and dropping. Other common editing facilities are also provided.
  • Have customers send snapshots of software installations to help solve issues in a support environment - the comparison tool can be used to compare differences in folders, both past and present.
  • Launch and manage local files from within the Folder-Snap Viewer using Windows Explorer's own context menu.
  • Audition audio files using the integrated Nullsoft Winamp controls (download Winamp at http://www.winamp.com).
  • View image files using the built-in Image Viewer.
